Campaign 44 is bringing STEM education to life for over 5,000 students in the Bronx


Bronx, New York – September 9, 2016, Reggie Jackson, former New York Yankee and Hall of Famer announced today through the Mr. October Foundation a commitment to promote STEM education equality in America by introducing Campaign 44 in Bronx, NY.

Campaign 44 is focused on an exciting new initiative which will expand the future of underserved and underrepresented students by connecting them to the skills and relationships required to win the opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

“STEM will give kids a chance to compete in a huge job market. It’s time we start directing more STEM to underserved and underrepresented kids, an important part of the success of our country’s future”, says Reggie Jackson, founder of the Mr. October Foundation (MOF). He goes on to quote his dad who told him “No one can take your education from you, son.”

Mr. October Foundation has teamed up with The STEM Academy, Inc. or STEM 101 to provides best of class K-12 STEM curriculum to connect students to 21st century STEM careers. STEM 101 and the MOF have provided summer, in-school and after-school programs for Campaign 44.

Campaign 44 was introduced in the Bronx in 2015 at MS 223 with the help of Principal Dr. Ramon Gonzalez. Based upon the program’s success the program has been expanded to additional sites in the Bronx for the 2016-17 school year, with support from the New York Yankees, SAP, General Electric and Booth Ferris Foundation. It is planned for Campaign 44 to expand to additional major cities in 2017 and beyond.
