In her role as an Executive Search Consultant, Shawna Rice is able to combine three things that give her purpose which are to teach, lead and inspire. Using her background in education along with her intuition and tenacity, Shawna makes positive recommendations for her clients and candidates that yield success for all parties.
Shawna joined Lucas Group in 2018 in the Accounting & Finance practice group. Her superior communication skills, both verbal and written, along with her ability to influence, persuade and ask tough questions ensure she finds the right individuals for each of her client’s complex hiring needs. Shawna’s ability to work closely with others has allowed her great success in the areas of conflict negotiation, mediation and resolution—a skill she employs daily in her recruiting practice. Her unique aptitude to reach the core of a problem or challenge quickly and suggest alternative solutions leads to long-term, strategic placements for both her clients and candidates.
Prior to Lucas Group, Shawna spent nearly five years as a Business Engagement Specialist II with Workforce Connections. While there, she sourced, screened, interviewed and placed qualified candidates in a wide range of positions. Before recruiting, Shawna’s career was in education. She earned two Master’s Degrees while working full time and successfully maintained a wealth of responsibilities in her teaching career, holding the roles of Academy Lead, Dean of Students and Assistant Principal. Throughout her tenure in the education field, she assisted in opening three charter schools and was part of many leadership teams. As a member of leadership, she was tasked with influencing change and was a go-to for colleagues striving to reach the same levels of performance. Naturally an enthusiastic “educator,” even outside of the classroom, Shawna strongly believes that an environment in which she can empower individuals is one that will motivate and bring out the best in others.
Shawna spends her free time bowling, golfing, cooking, exercising and cycling. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Marygrove College and M.ED. degrees in Curriculum & Instruction as well as School Administration from the University of Phoenix.
