This simulation demonstrates the advantages of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques over traditional production methods, by utilizing continuous improvement. The simulation consists of five different phases. By working through the five phases, participants can see the power of the tools to create a safer workplace, eliminate waste, maximize throughput, minimize losses, minimize inventory, improve productivity, and improve quality.
With the hands-on approach, participants operate work stations to build zero-turn mowers along a simulated assembly line. For ease of demonstration, the actual materials and components are represented by plastic blocks. Supplier problems, labor skills, deadlines, quality issues, safety concerns, and other typical situations have been incorporated into each phase of the simulation.
